Shimul Melwani is a tenured Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior at the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. She conducts research on creativity, diversity and interpersonal relationships at work and has been published in top management and psychology journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, and Psychological Science; her work has also been covered by Forbes, Harvard Business Review, Newsweek, New Yorker and on Good Morning America to name a few.
Currently she teaches courses on leadership and management to undergraduate and graduate students. Shimul was recognized as one Poets and Quants Top 50 Undergraduate Business Professors in 2018 and has also won multiple teaching awards at Kenan-Flagler, UNC, the Wharton School and Cornell University. She earned her doctorate in management from the Wharton School, a Masters in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University and has a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Mumbai.
Before entering academia, she had a circuitous career, working as a hospital biomedical engineer and in biomedical sales, as well as in human resources in both Fortune 500 and start-up organizations, in the United States and around the world.
