Jackson Hignite

Recruitment and Selection Assistant

Hometown: Springdale, AR

Jackson, a Notre Dame graduate, is a dedicated community organizer and project coordinator. Jackson is currently serving his Lead for America Fellowship in his hometown of Springdale, AR under his host organization, Arkansas United. AU is Arkansas' leading immigrant rights advocacy non-profit organization, and in his role on the AU Team he has been able to help lead change-making projects in his own community, such as a voter registration drive that registered 228 new voters.

Jackson also co-founded the Arkansas United Youth Committee which just completed its first year as part of the organization. Prior to joining LFA, Jackson served as a program lead and senior ambassador for the Gender Relations Center at the University of Notre Dame, fighting to ensure a safe campus for people of all gender identities and sexual orientations.

After experiencing life as an LFA Hometown Fellow, Jackson is using his passion about promoting the mission, vision, and model of Lead for America as a Recruitment and Selection Assistant on Lead for America's Recruitment and Selection team. Jackson plans to complete his Fellowship as a member of the inaugural cohort this June and attend graduate school in the Fall.
